Firmly convinced of the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created the cheerful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The goal was to design a figure that would constantly remind people of the importance of staying positive and optimistic. Although the 1960s are often referred to as "the swinging sixties," this decade was marked by troubling events. That's why the joy radiating from Ehrenreich's design was welcome during a rather turbulent time. Bimble and Bumble are the very first Hoptimists created by the designer: a girl dressed in a dress with smiling eyes and a thoughtful boy with a stick on his head. Today, the cheerful Hoptimists are part of Danish design history and spread joy all over the world.
