The ROADTEC™ 01 from Metzeler is the leader in the sport touring segment, offering different structures (radial and conventional) and focusing on better grip on wet surfaces and low-friction conditions, greater longevity, and a high level of adaptability to different motorcycles, riding styles, and conditions.

Grip on all types of asphalt.

Improved compound solution enhances chemical grip and adhesive properties in different situations.
Our patented mixing process delivers a more homogeneous compound that emphasizes chemical properties and results in better wear resistance.
The radial front tires feature a 100% silica compound, capable of providing excellent chemical grip as well as mechanical grip created by the groove layout.
The radial rear tires are characterized by a layout with two compounds where the central tread covers approximately 20% of the tire width and the remaining 80% is evenly distributed between the two shoulders.
The central tread has a balanced mix of silica and carbon black to improve high-speed stability, heat dissipation, and to create a balance between abrasion resistance and grip.
The 100% silica compound on the shoulders is similar to that of the front tire. Combined with the tread pattern design, it delivers excellent grip even on surfaces with a low friction coefficient.
Using a similar compound on the shoulders at the front and rear provides a consistent contact feel in corners.
The Cap&Base design - characterized by a thin central compound layer extending under the shoulder compound - offers good heat distribution.
All ROADTEC™ 01 radials are paired with INTERACT™ technology (0° steel belt) Metzeler, contributing to handling precision and high longevity.
All ROADTEC™ 01 with a conventional structure feature a unique carbon black-based compound with a silica percentage close to 30% that utilizes the heat generated by the structure to reach optimal operating temperature and deliver ideal dry grip. Special resins enhance the mobility of the compound and its adhesive properties for unmatched wet grip.

Safety on wet and low-friction surfaces.

On the ROADTEC™ 01, Metzeler has developed a new tread concept capable of improving mechanical traction, with clearly perceivable benefits during acceleration and braking.
The front tire features a large number of transverse grooves that grip the asphalt and improve water evacuation.
The rear tire is characterized by long grooves and short grooves with opposing orientations and different functions.
During braking, the short grooves prevent lateral movement and increase the stability of the motorcycle.
During acceleration, the long grooves enhance the compound's traction, especially on low-friction surfaces.
The orientation of the grooves also contributes to increased longevity: the groove design and depth have been conceived to influence a high solid/void ratio and a large amount of rubber in contact with the ground.
At the same time, the groove orientation follows the direction of wear lines, ensuring an even wear of the tread and allowing it to last until the very end of the tire's life.
The shape and layout, apart from being a distinctive feature of the ROADTEC™ 01 tread, significantly contribute to maximizing water evacuation capacity and mechanical friction.

Longevity and consistent performance.

The ROADTEC™ 01 offers 10% longer longevity compared to the ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™. Innovative profiles generate a short and wide contact patch that reduces compound consumption and increases wear uniformity.
The contact patch of the ROADTEC™ 01 is shorter but wider, resulting in a larger surface area than that of the ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™. This brings two main effects:

• A reduced compound slip, significantly delaying the wear process of the rubber.
• The weight of the motorcycle and acceleration forces are distributed over a larger surface area, thereby reducing the stresses on the compound and overheating.

The contact surface of the ROADTEC™ 01 includes a greater number of grooves and edges in contact with the road, thereby improving mechanical grip, water evacuation, and the feeling of safety. It also allows more rubber to be in contact with the ground, especially when leaning at medium angles, thus providing chemical grip right from the onset of the lean.

Stability and trajectory precision.

The structures of the ROADTEC™ 01 are characterized by more flexible casings (compared to the ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™), allowing the compound to deform for enhanced mechanical grip, better adherence to the road roughness, and easier absorption of road irregularities.
Metzeler leverages its entire technological portfolio across different applications to offer the best solution to meet product performance goals and ensure that radial and X-ply structures are used, paired either with a diagonal belt or a 0° steel belt with INTERACT™ technology.
